Tiger came to Wayward Cats in June of 2024 along with two other cats named Onyx and Trey after their person passes away. They had been living on their own for over a year, and the only human contact was with a volunteer who stopped by to feed them and change their litter boxes. When Tiger arrived at the sanctuary, he found his way into the Tree House room and located a cubby house that he claimed as his own. He gets along well with the other sanctuary residents but is very shy around people and really doesn’t like being touched.

Ila came to Wayward Cats as a kitten in April of 2023 along with her sister Izzy. They were adopted together in July but were returned after a couple of months because they were always getting into things and causing issues. When they came back to the sanctuary it soon became apparent that Ila was this dynamic duo’s ringleader. She is the most curious cat and is always finding something to do to get herself in trouble. When she’s not getting into mischief, she is one of the most loveable and affectionate cats you could ask for.
Matilda - Adopted!

Matilda is a new addition to our Wayward Cat family. We received a call from our vet saying they had a healthy 7-year-old cat that the owner wanted to euthanize because they were moving out of state. Unfortunately, this is not all that unusual of an occurrence in our societ

Matilda is a new addition to our Wayward Cat family. We received a call from our vet saying they had a healthy 7-year-old cat that the owner wanted to euthanize because they were moving out of state. Unfortunately, this is not all that unusual of an occurrence in our society. She was not comfortable around other cats, so I decided to make her my office cat. Her favorite place to lay down is on my desk in front of my monitor. If I’m sitting back watching a video, she will cuddle up on my stomach and snuggle. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to euthanize such a loving and wonderful cat.

Opal (born in November 2019) is a beautiful tortoiseshell tabby that came from a hoarding situation in North Phoenix when she was around 9 months old. As is common in hoarding environments, she did not have much contact with new people and as a result was extremely shy and distrustful. We worked to socialize her and as time went on, she became a little more outgoing and will now allow people she knows to pet her, if she’s in the mood. She is very happy living at the sanctuary and we’re happy to provide her a safe home.

Oscar came to Wayward Cats Sanctuary in March of 2024 after he lost his owner. He is a very handsome young cat that gets along well with other cats. He loves to play with feather toys or anything else that he can chase. Oscar is a little shy at first but warms up once he gets comfortable with his new environment. He has no health issues and is very good about using the litter box.
